Most skincare advice assumes you have time. Twenty minutes, ten steps, a shelf of products in a specific order. That's a fine hobby, but it's not a routine most people can keep.
Here's the honest version: five minutes is enough, if the five minutes are structured well. What follows is a routine that fits in the time between brushing your teeth and getting into bed — and that you'll actually still be doing in six months.
Minute one: cleanse
Warm water, gentle soap, done. Massage for about thirty seconds — long enough to lift oil and buildup, short enough that you're not stripping your skin.
The goal isn't squeaky clean. If your skin feels tight afterward, you've overdone it, and you'll spend the rest of the routine fighting that dryness.
Morning is optional for most people. If your skin isn't oily, a rinse is enough. Evening is the one that matters — that's when you're removing sunscreen, makeup, and a full day of buildup.
Minute two: hydrate on damp skin
This is the step most people skip, and it's the one that changes the most.
Apply while your skin is still damp. Whatever you put on next will hold that water against your skin instead of sitting on top of dry surface. A rich butter or balm on damp skin feels noticeably different from the same product on dry skin — same jar, better result.
Wait maybe thirty seconds, but don't towel off first.
Minutes three and four: moisturize, and mean it
Take the full time here. Warm a small amount between your palms and press it in, rather than rubbing it around. Pressing helps it absorb; rubbing mostly moves it.
Face gets the lighter product. Body gets the richer one. If you only have one, use it everywhere and don't overthink it.
For real dryness — knuckles, elbows, heels — a second small pass on those spots is worth more than a thicker layer everywhere else.
Minute five: protect, and stop
Morning: finish with SPF. That's the actual anti-aging step, more than any serum. Everything else is maintenance; sun protection is the one that changes outcomes.
Evening: you're done. Step away from the mirror.

What to leave out
Every product you remove makes the routine more likely to survive a busy week. Skip these unless a dermatologist has told you otherwise:
Toners that mostly sting
Anything requiring twenty minutes of your evening
Products you bought because someone else's skin liked them
A three-product routine done daily beats a twelve-product routine done twice a month. Consistency is the active ingredient, and it's the only one that's free.
What this looks like at Mediterranean Bloom
Our whole line is built for a short routine. A bar or liquid soap to cleanse. A balm or butter to moisturize. Something with SPF on top in the morning.
That's not a limitation — it's the entire point. Fewer things, done every day.
Bring the Mediterranean home to your skin — five minutes at a time.
